Popular Role Playing Games E-mail
Who's up for a few good role playing games? I remember back when I was a little kid in the 80s and these were all the rage. Oh, come one, you've surely heard of them before. What are the most popular role playing games you can think of, right off the top of your head?

Now, I'm not talking about Twister, here. I'm referring to the kind of games that call for characters and dressing up in costumes. If you get on the Internet, you will soon see that many of these still exist and are rather prominent in some circles.

This is your chance to live vicariously through some outrageous character, far different from yourself. Oh, but try and remember that it's just a game. A few individuals fail to do this.

Whenever I hear the words "role playing games" I immediately think of a particular one. Now, let's see if you can guess this one. It was big back in the 80s... however, it caused quite a ruckus after a certain incident.

So, have you guessed it yet? If you can't seem to recall, then let me help you out. It was known as "Dungeons and Dragons." Personally I was small when folks were playing it, and I only remember watching the cartoon.

Yeah, that cartoon used to be the bomb! Anyway, I believe it was a few college kids who became far too engrossed in the game itself. It's kind of like the way films work. With movies you have what is called the diagesis. Hopefully I'm spelling that correctly.

The Diagesis is the world of the film. Of course you have to keep that world separate from reality. Apparently some people who enjoyed the Dungeons and Dragons game became a tad too involved with their characters.

This resulted in death. I believe it was by sword. Now is that weird or is that weird? Hopefully most adults can separate role playing games from real life.

So, I know that everyone wants to go out and see what role playing games are big now. That Dungeons and Dragons story got you psyched, huh? It's typical. Truth is often more interesting than fiction.

However, fiction tends to be more entertaining on a certain level. Hop on your laptop and do a little recon work regarding today's popular role playing games.
